In honor of Jane's journey to London this week, I'm going to keep the London theme going with a post about beer! Well, hand-pulled cask ales. This was one of my favorite parts about London. My hubby and I went sightseeing during the day, and then went on our own pub crawls at night! Okay, there may have been some beer drinking during the day, too. Like in this pic on the left. We were at the pub right across the street from The Tower of London, and they had a special going on. 5.99pbs for a burger, fries and an ice cold Fosters :) But my obsession was with, like I said before, the hand-pulled cask ales. It's unflitered and unpasteurized, and it's served from a cask without the added carbon dioxide pressure or nitrogen. In other words, it's warm and flat. And I can't get enough of it! At any rate, we visited lots of pubs on our trip, as you'll see in the slideshow. Some we only saw from the outside, but many we became intimate with on the inside, like Witherspoons near Trafalgar Square with its 7.99 special! Our favorite pubs, however, were the Victorian ones, with their orangey glow! The perfect place to snuggle up on a rainy, London night! Do you have a favorite pub in or out of London? What makes it special? And have you ever tried hand-pulled cask ales? I'm curious what you think!
