I write what I consider to be a hybrid of regency historical romance and romantic suspense. There will almost always be some kind of mystery (though in my novella's the mystery is a bit less serious) and I really love to have my hero and heroine work together to solve it. My latest book is set in Bath and features a ladies' companion, Georgina, and her employer's nephew (an earl), Con, who must work to figure out who is threatening her.
Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your most recent book?
I think for Con I'd like to see a someone like Matthew Goode. And for Georgie, I picture someone with the look of Rosamund Pike.
Any tips on how to get through the dreaded writer’s block?
Just write. Many times I find myself putting off getting started, or having false starts then stopping. What I find helps most is a program called Write or Die, which basically forces you to keep writing or something bad will happen (like a loud noise, or the screen turns red.) It also has a kamikaze mode that begins erasing your previous work if you stop typing but I don't go for that. I'm not that hard a case!
What are your thoughts on good/bad reviews?
Reviews are someone's opinion of my work. And I know not everyone is going to adore my writing. And that's fine. I would never comment on someone's bad review or try to make them change their mind. It's not my place. Readers have a right to their negative opinions. And honestly, I just don't care that much. Not to say that I've never groused about a negative review. It's only human. But I firmly believe that the author should stay out of it. As for good reviews, I cherish them.
I sink into a good book, or an interesting television show. Right now I'm watching the past seasons of Game of Thrones. Anything with a plot amuses me!
